Missouri Shop Fire Engulfs Building in Flames
A tire shop in Salem, Missouri broke out in a fire so large that officials across the state came to help contain it, KY3 reports.
The Salem Police Department reported the shop, Dewayne’s Tire, as being engulfed in flames. The Dent County Fire Protection District was the first to arrive on the scene this past Friday night, but quickly realized backup would be necessary to contain the fire.
Backup from Lenox Fire, Rolla, and Cuba fire departments were called in. Officials from not only the Salem area but around the state arrived on the scene as well. In total, 50 emergency personnel were needed.
Firefighters and towing crews that were called to the scene faced delays due to a nearby traffic jam.
Officials of Salem warned residents that due to the large amount of water being transported through the city’s water system, discolored water may be seen for part of the weekend.
Altogether, it took crews around 10 hours to put out the fire.
