Valvoline Eyes Mount Vernon, Ohio for New Service Center

A new Valvoline Instant Oil Change is planned for Mount Vernon, Ohio, reports Knox Pages.

The new location would be replacing the site of a former restaurant at 808 Coshocton Road, which has been sitting vacant since 2014.

According to Pre-Construction Project Manager Robin Peck, permit approvals are estimated to be granted by the beginning of this summer, with construction beginning in the fall. The existing structure will be demolished, and a new facility will replace it and be open for business by spring 2025.

Valvoline’s corporate team will operate the new store through its Columbus market. The company will own the building while leasing the property from Charles River Realty Group. Valvoline will be responsible for maintaining the property’s landscaping and irrigation.

Three or four part-time employees and six or seven full-time staff members are expected to be recruited for the Mount Vernon store. Peck noted that the store will utilize recycled oil and filters and that the only waste generated from its operations will be from employees’ lunches.

Parking on the property will be limited to employees only. Mount Vernon’s Board of Zoning Appeals granted a parking variance to the Valvoline to lower its parking spaces from 13 to 11, on account of it being a service center rather than a repair facility.

Peck said that the needs and growth of the Mount Vernon community made it a good choice for opening a new location.

“To be in a community that’s growing, and with the tremendous growth north of Columbus and all of the other growth that will be coming your way, it just makes sense to be there to service the community,” said Peck.
