Feb. 8, 2021—One person was taken to the hospital on Friday after a flash fire at an oil change garage caused second-degree burns, WKOW reported

An employee at Woodman’s Gas and Lube Center in Madison, Wisc. was reportedly removing an oil plug from a vehicle when the engine oil caught fire and spread to the employees shirt, causing burns to their upper body.

Fire crews said the victim was working in a basement pit and was not trapped beneath the vehicle at the time of the fire. The employee’s shield and mask protected them from further injury to their face and lungs. The fire went out on its own in a matter of seconds.
