Dec. 21, 2021—Ford Motor Co. on Monday issued a recall of 2,626 Mustang Mach-E and Maverick pickup trucks due to a rear seatbelt defect.

According to a report from The Detroit News, the automaker filed paperwork with the NHTSA last week that said the rear floor assembly may have "oversized extruded bolt holes" that "decrease the strength of the [seatbelt] fastener joint" and could detach in an accident.

Per the report, 741 affected Mach-Es and 145 Mavericks have already been delivered to customers. Ford began notifying dealers on Dec. 17 and will begin informing customers the week of Jan. 17.

Ford attributed the recall to "an error on the part of a supplier" and said that it was not aware of any injuries or accidents caused by the issue.
