Oct. 11, 2022—Following a recent break-in and subsequent arson at an auto shop, an Oregon man is facing charges.
According to 16 KMTR, police in Eugene, Oregon, estimate that the damage done to Jackson's Auto Care amounts to tens of thousands of dollars. This past Saturday morning, a man broke into Jackson's, started a fire and barricaded himself inside the shop.
The sprinkler system in the shop put out the fire. The man broke a sink off a wall, causing significant flooding to occur in the breakroom, employee bathroom and even part of the main shop area. The man refused to exit, but the police were able to use a K-9 unit to get inside and arrest him. He is being charged with burglary, criminal mischief and arson.
Shop owner Bob Langan told 16 KMTR that he is thankful for the sprinkler system, but the damage done is still significant.
