Nov. 30, 2021—Pennzoil recently released an information kit to help customers remember why getting an oil change at the correct interval is so important.
Even as motor oil technology continues to improve and can stay in vehicles for longer intervals, the protective additives in any oil will eventually break down, according to the information kit.
"When any motor oil is left in an engine too long, the additives will break down," according to the website. "The motor oil loses its ability to protect the engine, creating more sludge in the engine which can make the motor oil thicker than it is designed to be."
Despite those advancements, Pennzoil still recommends that customers change their oil at their regularly scheduled intervals set by the manufacturer or sooner depending on the kind of driving that they do. p
