Lucas Oil Center has announced the success of its recent Breast Cancer Giveback fundraiser that took place in October that benefited two women living with breast cancer, according to a news release.

The company has held the fundraiser every October for the past five years, holding various events throughout the month to help raise money for the chosen recipients.

This year’s recipients were Ashlynn Racine of Evansville, Indiana, a 40-year-old woman who has been married for 19 years and has two daughters; and Shannon Lewis of Sebree, Kentucky, a 44-year-old woman who has been married 23 years and has two sons and two grandchildren.

To kick off the month, Lucas Oil Center sponsored the October 14 Tri-State Speedway and the Harvest Cup, where staff members asked attendees for donations as Racine and Lewis spoke to the audience from the announcer box.

October 27 through 29 saw Breast Cancer Giveback Weekend, in which team members from the company’s Eastside and Westside locations wore Breast Cancer Giveback shirts and hoodies as they worked, with the apparel also available for purchase in the main lobby to raise funds.

During this period, 20% of all car washes at the Eastside location, as well as 20% of both location’s oil changes, went toward the funds for Racine and Lewis.

Finally, the fundraiser’s finale was a Trunk or Treat Cruise-In, providing live music from local artists and lots of candy for families and kids. Though the event being rescheduled from October 29 to 31 due to bad weather did affect attendance, it was still an exciting event that attendees enjoyed.

Lucas Oil Center outdid last year’s fundraising result of $7,000, ending up with a total of $9,000 this year. April Maxey, VP of operations and HR manager, and Chris Payne, marketing manager, presented a check for $4,500 to Racine and Lewis to support them in their battle with breast cancer.
